While ranges are still the most common cooking appliance, an increasing number of homeowners are installing cooktops and wall ovens when they remodel their kitchens. Cooktops come in gas and electric models and can be placed in just about any location. Wall ovens can be positioned at waist or eye-level and eliminate bending down. The cooktops and wall ovens tested by Consumer Reports vary in performance and reliability—and some don't merit the higher price tag. See our test results of cooktops and wall ovens in our Ratings and recommendations.
